The Center for Living and Learning is a non-profit organization engaging in programs to aid disadvantaged persons in acquiring and holding stable employment, thus allowing them to become contributing members of society. Since 2001, we have provided successful vocational education to disadvantaged adults and at-risk youth. With over 400 apprentices assisted and thousands served with our job readiness services, our organization has expanded consistently over the last several years.

For those not accepted into our apprenticeship program we offer a job search preparation course teaching vital job search skills, including application and interview techniques.

The mission of Center for Living and Learning is to improve lives by assisting individuals transitioning from rehabilitation or with barriers to employment, to enter the workforce and become contributing members of society.

How We Are Funded

Our charitable programs are funded through various revenue streams including vehicle donations, program service contracts and grants. The primary source of funding is vehicle donations, which we specialize in (we do not use commercial fundraisers, as many other charitable organizations do). To help contribute to our organization, you can donate your vehicle to us; we will pick up the vehicle and sell it. The proceeds go directly to our organization, and you can take a tax deduction based on the sale price of the vehicle.

The Center for Living and Learning (formerly California Non-Profit Center for Living and Learning) received its 501(c)3 tax exempt status for Federal Income Tax purposes from the IRS in an advance ruling determination letter signed by the IRS on 22 September 1993. The Center for Living and Learning was incorporated in the State of California on January 29, 1993 as a public benefit non-profit corporation no. 1850967.

Our registration date with the California Registry of Charitable Trusts was January 31, 1993, and our registration number is 88802. Tax exempt status from state income taxes was also granted on January 29, 1993 by the California Franchise Tax Board.
