Maria “Alex’ Alexander has served as Executive Director of Center for Living and Learning since 2005, after graduating from the apprenticeship program and completing an executive management program. Her most recent training was a year long, executive director leadership program through Executive Service Corps. Ms. Alexander serves on various committees including as Chair of the San Fernando Valley Providers’ Collaborative, member of the steering committee of the Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership, Co-Chair of the – Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership Employment Subcommittee and Chair of the San Fernando Valley Employer Advisory Council. As a member of long term recovery and a formerly incarcerated person, Ms. Alexander also advocates for sensible drug and sentencing policies and reducing the stigma of those same populations. As a student of theatre at El Camino College and video/film production at Los Angeles City College, Ms. Alexander never imagined that her life would take a detour and that one day her passion in life would be to serve those rebuilding their lives.
